NEWS & EVENTS PHILLY PROGRAM KICKS OFF! After months of back and forth with the School District of Philadelphia the after school program finally kicked off with a meeting for teachers on Friday, November 7th. The shortened 4 week fall program will see 10 schools and approximately 400 students introduced to the game, with a culminating event on December 6th. PELHAM PROGRAM'S FIRST TOURNAMENT Play Rugby USA helped the Pelham Parks and Rec launch and run its first youth rugby season this Fall with over 30 young players aged 6 and over enjoying the game. Pelham's first season culminates with a tournament this Sunday, November 16th and welcomes teams from Play Rugby's NYC schools, New Jersey, and the Brooklyn Dragons. PROGRAM UPDATES FUN, FITNESS AND FOOD COMMENCING THIS WEEK Play Rugby's new Fun, Fitness and Food program is gets going this week in 5 pilot schools this Fall. The curriculum is designed to offer a fun and engaging balance of fitness themed physical activities and class based nutritional education. Teaching students about the importance of health, fitness and healthy lifestyle choices, the program fills a void in the Physical Education and after school sports and recreation activities. The Fun, Fitness and Food program builds upon the success of last winters Flag Rugby CHAMPs program, due to kick off again in January.
